Viva Las Vegas!
Class cancellations allowed me make a spontaneous booking to Las Vegas for four nights b&b at the Flamingo, including flights for £180 - bargain! How could I possibly say no?
Early March was great weather-wise to visit the city. Knowing it has similar temperatures to Arizona, early twenties allowed comfortable walking weather with the need of only a jacket of an evening.

I thought it would be important to appreciate the history of Las Vegas and was thrilled when I stumbled upon 'Vegas! The Show' performance inside Planet Hollywood. I was surprised when I learned the extent of the established performers who were once regulars in Vegas - Elvis and Frank Sinatra just to name a few. I enjoyed learning how Vegas became the Vegas I visited, with focus not directly on the gambling aspect of the stereotype.
I had heard from friends that two days wasn't enough and a week was too long to stay in the city, and I agreed that four nights were perfect. Knowing that I had limited time in the city, I had undertaken a great deal of research to ensure maximum checked boxes on our Vegas bucket list.
As we descended on the plane, the Strip stands out so clearly among the Vegas skyline. It has the tallest and most extravagant buildings, alongside helicopters with tourist passengers close by. Even though we stayed on the Strip which is only a few miles from the airport, not once did I hear any aircraft.
We stayed in the Flamingo Hotel which is currently the oldest standing hotel on the Strip. Our top-floor room overlooked the Bellagio fountains and the southern section of the Strip. With the curtains open and lights off in the hotel room, the fountains were spectacular and it's definitely a sought-after view.

Two days were spent south of the hotel along the Strip, with the penultimate day spent north of the hotel on the Strip. The location could not be faulted - the Flamingo sits perfectly central to not-to-be-missed events, only having to walk north or south for less than ten minutes to reach your destination.

Occurring every half an hour, the Bellagio fountains are superb - the dramatic music along with the fountain performance is certainly artistic and beautiful. Regardless of how many times you had seen the performance, absolutely everybody would just stop once again, if they were walking by, to watch it again. It completely captures your full attention and many people are in their own bubble with smiles on their faces and their eyes glowing.

We most certainly tired ourselves out when we boarded the flight home. However I must say, my Vegas experience was beyond my expectations. The Strip is vibrant, bustling, and certainly made me feel youthful. I can understand why people normally only vacation at this location for a few days, however I loved it and will hopefully return!
